Wilmot Softball Association 2023 Catching Clinic

 

Dates: March 4, 25 April 1, 22, 29

Location: Waterloo-Oxford DSS (Rear Entrance)

Cost: $70 / 5 x 1hr sessions

 

WSA is pleased to announce Dave Bailey as our 2023 catching instructor!

Dave played all of his Minor Softball for the New Hamburg Heat. He moved on to Men’s ball where he was fortunate to compete with and against many of the best players in the World as a member of the Kitchener Hallman Twins and the Sebringville Sting. He was a member of two ISC World Championship teams and 3 Canadian Championship teams as well as winning an ASA Championship, North American Championship and multiple Provincial Championships . He grew as a catcher from a young age and was privileged to catch some of the top pitchers in the World including Don Scott and Todd Martin. As well as being a competitive player well into his 40’s, he has also been a coach and instructor of many top level teams over the past 25 years with boys, girls and men’s teams. He has also coached in 7 Canadian Championships to date.

The program will cover: catching stance and positioning, footwork, receiving and framing pitches, blocking pitches, catching pop ups around home plate, throwing out base runners / pop time, receiving and tagging, positioning on plays at the plate and proper tag, covering first base and when to do it / when not to do it, pitch calling /sequencing - changing a batter’s eyes, balance and timing, controlling pace of the game, and directing your defense. 

Catching equipment is mandatory. Contact us if you need equipment and we will supply it.

Junior                9:00 - 9:55am        No experience - 2 years experience

Intermediate      10:00 - 10:55am    3-4 years experience

Advanced           11:00 - 11:55am    5+ years experience

 

Registration is first come first serve. Max 8 catchers per session. Sessions are subject to change depending on participation.
